This item contains the text of the Navy Cross awarded to then Captain Harold C. Roberts for his actions as second in command during the Coco River Expedition in Nuevo Segovia from 4 September, 1928 to 10 November, 1928. While the overall mission failed to be completed, nevertheless, Captain Roberts showed "great fortitude and marked ability as a leader in surmounting the countless obstacles" his men encountered.
