Description

Captain Peter Geyer (USMC) was awarded the Navy Cross while serving in the Second Nicaraguan Campaign. This Navy Cross was awarded for the whole of his service in the Northern Area of Nicaragua, but particularly his time commanding the Coco River Expedition. While the expedition was a failure, his actions were still noted as showing "the highest qualities of courage, leadership and ability."
